HOW EARTH ELEMENTS BOTANICALS CAME TO BE
The name, Earth Elements Botanicals came together from our combined passion for all things natural! Mia is an accomplished artist designing and creating stunning jewelry (Earth Elements Studio) since 2014. Pete is a retired mountain guide, carpenter and Nature lover. He has been safely and ethically foraging mushrooms and herbs for close to fifty years. ‘Earth Elements’ encompasses all things in Nature, even the love that permeates throughout. Mia and I have always had a passion for Nature and natural medicine. A lifetime of learning (formal and informal) about herbs, mushrooms, foraging and the practical applications of these natural medicines led us to consider going out on faith and working towards making Earth Elements Botanicals a reality and our livelihood.
ā
Living on the wild, rugged west coast of Vancouver Island, BC in the heart of a foragers paradise made that decision a bit easier. In 2019 some serious planning began! Herb gardens were planted, trips out into the woods to find out what grew where and when, then the endless hours of research, blending, tasting, testing and the creation of products infused with care and love! Then our world changed… Pete got very ill and the world also spiralled into its own drastic changes. We continued our creation of unique products, doing our best to heal Pete while the world changed wildly all around us.

In the summer of 2024 we took Earth Elements Botanicals to local farmers markets on the South Island and were met with success in happy, excited customers who came back to purchase more! The next step was a website… and here we all are!
MEET MARIA (known to her friends as Mia)
Earth Elements Botanicals is a natural progression of my passion for learning the Healing Arts and helping others to heal! Being of Metis Native ancestry from the Algonquian First Nation has infused the maternal desire in me to forage and heal. For the past 33 years I have been on my own personal healing journey beginning with a grievous back injury in 1991 that eventually left me unable to function and required surgery. All of this excruciating pain taught me about the power of the human mind and the beautiful wonders of the human body to heal!
ā
A few years after my surgery I had a healing session with a Cree Elder (Barb Eagles) who began to mentor me in the ancient Cree healing ways using prayer and the power of the mind. After her passing, she appeared to me in a vision to urge me to continue my journey in the Healing Arts.
ā
I eagerly went on to learn massage modalities as well as Shiatsu. I became a Reiki Master in 2006, and also learned to read Akashic Records. I was on my way to completely immerse myself in learning the natural arts of healing.
ā
In 2007 I met my soul mate in Peter. We found out a few months later that Peter had very advanced Celiac disease as well as severe Adrenal Fatigue. I tasked myself to help him heal before it was too late! Learning to cook gluten free and to find products that did not contain gluten was not easy at that time, but necessary for us to survive.
ā
In 2010 I became an Ordained Minister of Peace with ‘The Beloved Community, Seminary of Spiritual Peacemaking’. This helped me to put many things in my life into perspective, and prepared me for what was to come.
ā
In 2016 my world changed forever when my dad passed from cancer. My mother had cancer a few years before and had survived. A few months before my dad passed I dropped everything, flew to Ontario and began researching everything I could on how to heal naturally from cancer. This is where my journey utilizing herbs, mushrooms and minerals to heal began in earnest.
ā
In 2017 I discovered Dolores Cannon and her incredible work with Quantum Hypnosis Healing Technique (QHHT). I realized that illness and trauma can be passed down through generations and that past lives can be identified and healed using the QHHT methods. I became fully certified as a QHHT practitioner and started my own practice in 2018. My studies continued and in 2019 I became certified as a Life and Wellness Coach. Then the world changed! I got COVID-19! I focused on utilizing my own natural healing knowledge and discovered the connection between parasites and illness! Since then I have been on my own personal mission to rid my body of these nasties (99.9% of all people have parasites throughout their bodies – they don’t all show up in stool samples). Check out an upcoming blog post on parasites in the human body!
ā
In 2020 Pete was diagnosed with stage four Crohn’s disease! He chose to refuse prescription drugs, surgery, chemo and radiation. Our next serious healing journey had begun!
In 2022 I became a certified level three Craniosacral Practitioner and have added that to my repertoire of natural healing modalities. I have now taken control over my own body and health! Pete is well versed in trauma care as a Wilderness First Responder, so medical doctor/hospital visits are very rare for us! I have now dedicated my life to helping others on their own healing journeys. Earth Elements Botanicals is the portal from which Pete and I work together to help those who reach out and desire experiencing ‘Healing by Nature’!
